A couple years ago, it was popular to jokingly remark “2016!” when something like AJ Styles debuting in the Royal Rumble weeks after being at Wrestle Kingdom, or Kota Ibushi on WWE Network was announced or happened.
That feeling persisted into last year, to the point where it took something like self-professed WWE lifer Chris Jericho showing up in New Japan to really cause us to raise our eyebrows.
Now, here we are in 2018. And Impact Wrestling’s top guy (who hasn’t even officially won the belt yet on television but Impact already announced it anyway) - a former Ring of Honor champion who worked WrestleMania last year - is facing a WWE titleholder. And Destiny World Wrestling lists Austin Aries and Pete Dunne with their championships in advertising the show tomorrow, Jan. 21, in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.
And it’s just another day at the office...
Tomorrow. For the first time ever. Perhaps the last time ever. #prowrestling @IMPACTWRESTLING @wwe pic.twitter.com/EQbRfjELta
