This isn’t even a new potential spoiler, as it’s just more of the same potential spoiler Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio served up last month.
But we’ve gone from some text on a website to a full blown video featuring a professional voiceover guy, so we’ve left purely “Card Subject To Change” territory. If there was absolutely nothing to it, someone at WWE could have shut this whole thing down back when Cageside and other sites covered it around Christmastime.
This video from the venue hosting Fastlane differs from their initial teaser. At first, it looks like it’s just been updated to add the “special appearance” by John Cena. But it then goes ahead and hypes AJ Styles defending his WWE title against Randy Orton, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and Shinsuke Nakamura in a Fatal 5Way on March 11...
... which would mean a few things.
One, this doesn’t suggest KO and Sami are winning their handicap title match at Royal Rumble. They were probably long shots to do so anyway. They could win and drop the belt before March, and nothing in the current storyline on the blue brand makes the scenario which gets us to a Fatal 5Way like this one surprising. Take it as more evidence The Phenomenal One holds onto the WWE belt for a while longer, though.
Two, this is the last pay-per-view (PPV) before WrestleMania 34. Makes you wonder if any of the four challengers mentioned in the video be in this Fatal 5Way if they were going to win The Rumble itself to earn a ‘Mania title shot? Nakamura in particular has been a sports book and fantasy booking favorite - does this lessen his odds at being the last man in the ring on Jan. 28?
A lot can happen between now and mid-March. But you wouldn’t know from Nationwide Arena’s marketing efforts.
