Kevin Owens missed recent house shows, reportedly due to injury

It would probably be easier to make a list of WWE Superstars who aren’t banged up right now.

Kevin Owens didn’t wrestle on the SmackDown live events Sunday, Jan. 14 or Monday, Jan. 15, and PWInsider is reporting that’s because of “an existing injury the former Universal champion has been working through”.

The site, which also reported a Jason Jordan injury yesterday, goes on to say their sources don’t consider it to be a serious issue. This is likely a precautionary measure to make sure he’s healthy for his handicap WWE title match with Sami Zayn against AJ Styles on Jan. 28 at Royal Rumble - and for the road to WrestleMania beyond. They go on to say Owens is scheduled to be on SmackDown tonight (Jan. 16), although he may work in a non-wrestling capacity, similar to how Jordan was used on Raw last night.

With Dean Ambrose definitely on the shelf for WrestleMania and questions about the availability of Samoa Joe, WWE is wise to play it safe with whoever is in need of some rest while the schedule allows it.

Or, you know, adjust the schedule to something a little less hectic that four nights of travel and performing a week, 52 weeks a year. But business is business, fans keep showing up and tuning in, and here we are.

Feel better, KO... and wrestlers everywhere.
