The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the Royal Rumble event set to take place on Sun., Jan. 28, 2018, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the company’s annual beginning of the year showcase featuring its most popular gimmick match. It will crown the next number one contender to either the Raw (Universal) or SmackDown Live (World) championship. And this year, the women get a Rumble too!
We’re just two weeks away from the gates opening in the City of Brotherly Love and it looks like we have the complete card.
- Royal Rumble (Men)
Declared so far: John Cena, Finn Balor, Randy Orton, Shinsuke Nakamura, Elias, Baron Corbin, Woken Matt Hardy, Bray Wyatt, Aiden English, Rusev
- Royal Rumble (Women)
Declared so far: Asuka, Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan, Sarah Logan, Sasha Banks, Nia Jax, Bayley, Naomi, Natalya, Sonya Deville, Mandy Rose, Mickie James, Tamina Snuka, Lana, Carmella, Becky Lynch
- Brock Lesnar vs. Kane vs. Braun Strowman (Universal championship)
A Kane vs. Strowman number one contender match didn’t get a satisfactory finish so instead of looking for a contender elsewhere, or simply running it back to give a victor the title shot, they simply put both in the match.
- AJ Styles vs. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn (WWE championship)
This is a handicap match and the idea is if either Owens or Zayn win they are both champion.
- Seth Rollins & Jason Jordan vs. Cesaro & Sheamus (Raw tag team championship)
The Bar are getting their rematch for the titles.
- The Usos vs. Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin (SmackDown tag team championship)
This will be a 2-out-of-3 Falls match, done because they have had some screwy finishes to matches of late.
- Enzo Amore vs. Cedric Alexander (Cruiserweight championship)
They had a match for the title on Raw that featured Amore suffering an injury that wasn’t an injury, leading to a count out that allowed him to keep his title. So here they are for another go round.
- United States Championship Tournament Final
SmackDown is currently running a tournament to crown a new U.S. champion after Dolph Ziggler vacated the title and left town. The winner of Xavier Woods vs. Jinder Mahal will face the winner of Bobby Roode vs. Mojo Rawley.
That looks to be the entire card, although the Observer noted WWE could add another match to the “Kickoff” show because it’s two hours long.
You in?
