Just days ago, Dave Meltzer reported WWE is currently planning to have Undertaker return for another match, this one at WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans. His opponent would be John Cena, a match the promotion has simply run out of time to put together.
This would seem to run contrary to the entire idea behind Undertaker losing to Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 33, of course. After that defeat, he symbolically left his gear in the middle of the ring. They never would use the term “retirement” in the wake of it, however, and they are doing very little to refute the aforementioned reports.
When asked about Undertaker retiring by the New York Post, here’s what Triple H had to say:
“I understand why people can’t let go of it,” he said of the character. “It’s a hard thing to say that that would be the end. What he has left? I don’t know. We’ll have to ask him. That’s the beauty of WWE. Wait and see.”
“The Phenom” is scheduled to return to television at Raw 25 on Jan. 22. Cena is also scheduled for that show. It is just six days before Royal Rumble in Philadelphia.
We may finally get some concrete answers there but for now, all signs point to Undertaker wrestling again.
