This might help explain why Vince McMahon is making a cross-country trip next week.
Well, the Shane McMahon/Kevin Owens angle, obviously, but WWE is also rolling out the red carpet - literally - for the final bout of the Mae Young Classic (MYC) between Shayna Baszler and Kairi Sane which will take place immediately after SmackDown at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas on Tuesday, Sept. 12.
The company has announced a Cathy Kelley-hosted Red Carpet special for their Facebook Live feed, taking place at 6 p.m. ET (3 p.m. local time) because “with the Mae Young Classic Finale being one of Sin City’s hottest tickets next week, luminaries from all walks of life will be in attendance for the all-important event.”
In addition to expected WWE personalities like Triple H, Stephanie McMahon, the Bellas, Charlotte Flair and Bayley, the announcement also touts interviews with U.S. soccer star Hope Solo, members of Netflix’s women’s wrestling dramedy series GLOW and, of course, Ronda Rousey.
Aside from wondering if the company couldn’t have found a less controversial women’s athlete than Solo, and whether Alison Brie will be there, the standout part of this is confirmation that Rousey will be on hand next Tuesday - likely to continue building toward the first feuds of her pro wrestling career.
Who’s firing up the device of their choice to catch this?
