Neither Randy Orton nor Shinsuke Nakamura could defeat Jinder Mahal to win the WWE championship in their respective attempts in recent months but the two were still put in a number one contender match against each other on this week’s episode of SmackDown Live.
Thankfully Corey Graves was commentating for the first time on the blue brand, so we got that sweet KINSHASA call just before Nakamura pinned Orton clean in the middle of the ring.
It was a fine match, and one we’ll likely see again sometime in the not too distant future.
That sets up Nakamura vs. Jinder Mahal as the main event of the upcoming WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view (PPV) on Sun., Oct. 8, 2017, at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan. This will be the second PPV in a row the two have wrestled for the title.
As of now, that’s the only match official for the card.
