WWE announces Corey Graves will replace JBL on SmackDown

WWE.com

It won’t be Renee Young - who didn’t sound like she wanted the job, anyway - but fans will likely be very pleased with who WWE has chosen as the replacement for John Bradshaw Layfield on Tuesday nights - Corey Graves!

Their brief announcement specifies Graves will be reunited with his old NXT partners Tom Phillips and Byron Saxton on SmackDown LIVE. He will also remain with Michael Cole and Booker T on Raw, so I guess he’s a free agent like John Cena.

This also means shakeups on 205 Live and Main Event, as Corey will no longer help call those shows. WWE is bringing up current NXT commentator Nigel McGuinness to partner with Vic Joseph for the series filmed before Raw and after SmackDown. Presumably, Nigel remains on NXT with Mauro Ranallo and Percy Watson, as the roughly monthly tapings in Florida won’t conflict with his new job on the main roster.
