Though not a surprise to anyone who reads our spoiler or rumor reports, with an announcement on the Sept. 27 episode of NXT, the plan for determining who will follow Asuka as Women’s champion for the black-and-yellow brand is now officially news.
Triple H revealed Kairi Sane would compete for the belt at TakeOver: Houston shortly after the Japanese Superstar defeated Shayna Baszler to win the first Mae Young Classic (MYC) tournament. Now, NXT General Manager William Regal informs us Sane will face not one, but three other women in that match.
What we still don’t technically know is who the other competitors will be. Regal said a series of qualifying bouts will determine Sane’s foes (unless you read this spoiler report here, then you can learn who two of them are). Those matches start on the Oct. 11 edition of the WWE Network show. In the weeks leading up to the 11th, wrestlers will be trying to impress the GM for a shot in a qualifier.
This is the first match announced for NXT’s next live special, which will take place Nov. 18, the night before Survivor Series, in Houston’s Toyota Center.
