WWE SmackDown Live ratings (Sept. 26, 2017): Numbers up slightly after Mahal controversy

WWE.com

Whatever bad press or controversy was created by the Sept. 19 episode of SmackDown didn’t hurt this week’s episode.

It would be hard to argue that Jinder Mahal’s promo, or anything else, had much of an effect on the numbers, as viewership for WWE’s Tuesday night show stayed right in the range it’s occupied for months with 2,542,000 tuning in on Sept. 26. That’s up a modest 32K from seven days ago.

That was good for fourth biggest audience among cable originals on the night, as outside Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson and Rachel Maddow, numbers for political talk shows were below where they’ve been lately. In the ratings department, the rise was a little sharper, up with 18 - 49 year olds to .82 from last week’s .74, but still behind FX’s American Horror Story.

With a visit from Vince McMahon and the SummerSlam fallout show the only things to push the blue brand to 2.6 million viewers and above since July, there’s not much reason to think next Tuesday’s Hell in a Cell ‘go home’ results will be very different.

Here’s a rundown of the blue brand’s numbers this year:
