We’ve known it was coming. In fact, the only weird thing about it is that it took this long.
Together, The New Day and The Usos have delivered a series of great tag matches on the SmackDown brand over the past several months. Their feud has been one that’s ramped up over time, recently giving us a Street Fight stipulation for a match where Big E and Kofi Kingston reclaimed the championship for their squad.
So the rumors their next match would take place in Hell in a Cell made sense. But when that was added to the card for the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view (PPV) last week, there was no mention of it.
Tonight (Sept. 26), they addressed that with scene where New Day threw down the challenge after Jimmy and Jey defeated Hype Bros...

That makes two matches which will take place in the “demonic structure” on Oct. 8, and five total announced:
- Jinder Mahal (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE championship
- Shane McMahon vs. Kevin Owens in a Hell in a Cell match
- The New Day (c) vs. The Usos in a Hell in a Cell match for the SmackDown tag team titles
- Charlotte Flair vs. Natalya (c) for the SmackDown Women’s championship
- Baron Corbin vs. AJ Styles (c) for the United States title
