If you were surprised the finish to No Mercy’s main event clash between Beast and Monster ended after only one F5 from Brock Lesnar to Braun Strowman, you had some good company. And I don’t just mean my main man Geno Mrosko.
The folks at WWE.com seemed caught off guard, too. Prior to the pay-per-view (PPV) on Sunday, Sept. 24, the website had a poll up which indicated pretty clearly they thought it would take a little more to pin Strowman:

That poll is down, along with others that are now moot due to the match already taking place. But the results of “How many times will Brock Lesnar suplex Braun Strowman at WWE No Mercy?” wouldn’t be an underwhelming “1”.
There’s been a lot of armchair criticism of the Universal title fight, from wondering if Brock and Braun missed a spot before the final sequence to allegations of Lesnar gassing or even sandbagging the next Next Big Thing. And those don’t even get into why rope breaks were only occassionally enforced by the referee.
A hidden corner of the company website hyping something that didn’t happen isn’t an indication of anything, really...
Except to remind us that a whole lot of people think it’s weird it only took one F5 to pin Braun Strowman.
What do you think happened, or should have happened?
