According to the obituary published today (Sept. 19) in The Tampa Bay Times, WWE Hall of Famer Bobby Heenan died Sunday, Sept. 17 of organ failure caused by his years long battle with throat cancer.
Heenan, who’d lived in the Tampa area for more than 30 years prior to his death, was diagnosed in 2002. Despite doctors declaring his cancer to be in remission just two years later, for the man known as The Brain, the treatment had as much of an impact as the disease. Heenan struggled with reconstructive surgery on his jaw in 2007 and 2008, fell and suffered broken hips multiple times and broke his shoulder in 2014.
“It was just his time,” said his daughter, Jessica Solt.
Rest in peace, Brain.
