As mentioned in our latest Rumor Roundup, word recently went around that Ho Ho Lun was released from WWE. The 30 year old Hong Kong native competed in last year’s Cruiserweight Classic and Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournaments, and was announced as a 205 Live roster member, but never appeared on the show. He has been featured in an enhancement talent role on NXT and worked that brand’s house shows.
While there is still no mention of his departure on the company’s website, Pro Wrestling Sheet reached out to WWE and received confirmation of his departure. The statement they got also indicates Lun asked for the release, and their sources say it was “to deal with a family situation”.
WWE’s comment reads:
WWE has granted HoHo Lun’s request to be released for personal reasons.
Prior to joining the company, he founded his own gym and promotion, Hong Kong Pro-Wrestling Federation - Mauro Ranallo referred to him as the “father of Hong Kong wrestling” during his last NXT appearance - so he may be returning to that rather than being used sparingly 16 hours away from home.
Sheet had no details on the “family situation” which they heard caused Lun to make the request, but if it’s more serious than having more control of his own destiny while also being close to his loved ones, please join us in hoping it comes to a positive resolution.
