Attention Brock Lesnar!
Jon Jones, who defeated Daniel Cormier to win the light heavyweight championship at UFC 214 on July 29, 2017, in Anaheim, California, then immediately called out current WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar, failed an in-competition drug test. That’s according to TMZ, who report he failed for the steroid turinabol.
As noted by our sister site, MMA Fighting, this carries a two-year suspension for first time offenders. Jones, however, has tested positive for banned substances before, for his previous planned fight against Cormier at UFC 200. He served a one-year suspension for that.
There’s no telling how this affects Lesnar’s future plans, as reports indicated he was talking about leaving WWE following WrestleMania 34 to return to the UFC. That very well may have been a negotiating ploy but there was very clearly interest on both sides in making a superfight with Jones.
Any talk of that is now dead, at least for the time being.
