Paige reportedly will not be charged in Orlando domestic violence incident involving Alberto El Patron

The latest chaotic chapter in the story of WWE Superstar Paige and her fiance Alberto El Patron appears to be coming to a close.

El Patron is still suspended by Global Force Wrestling (GFW), but the focus has been on Paige for several weeks. The police investigation into the incident which took place at Orlando International Airport on July 9 led to a recommendation that she be charged with battery - after an initial statement dismissing the entire incident, Paige eventually claimed to have been the aggressor in the domestic violence incident.

According to TMZ, however, the State Attorney’s Office for Florida’s 9th Judicial Circuit tells them the case against Paige is closed. Their stated reason was because the alleged victim (El Patron) did not want to press charges against his fiancee.

Possible charges were a potential hurdle to the 25 year old former Divas champion returning to WWE, since the company has a strict policy on domestic violence, and Paige has already been suspended twice for violations of the separate Wellness Policy. With this seemingly behind them, the next step is medical clearance from company doctors. Paige underwent neck surgery in October of 2016.

Neither GFW or WWE has commented on when the wrestlers could return to active performer status, and their ability to stay out of the press with further incidents is likely a factor in their decisions.
