WWE SummerSlam 2017 results: Natalya wins SmackDown women’s title from Naomi

@WWE

It was a big surprise when Natalya became top contender to the SmackDown women’s championship but she got her shot at Naomi tonight (Sun., Aug. 20, 2017) at the WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view (PPV) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

And she took advantage of it.

They had a much better than expected match. Natalya locked on a Sharpshooter that Naomi countered by flipping her into the bottom turnbuckle. But she couldn’t hit her own finish, with Nattie getting her knees up in time.

A second Sharpshooter was enough to get the tap.

Naomi broke down in tears in the ring as Natalya left with the title.

The bigger story leading into this match was whether or not Carmella would cash in the Money in the Bank contract. They didn’t even bother talking much about it, and she ultimately did not do so.
