Despite the fact that it’s been a genuinely enjoyable feud, The New Day’s defense of their SmackDown Live tag team titles, against The Usos, was relegated to the pre-show of tonight’s (Sun., Aug. 20, 2017) WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view (PPV) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
The Usos took control early on, beating on Xavier Woods for some time in methodical fashion. It was all leading up to Big E getting the hot tag and coming in to clean house to give the champions a comeback. They couldn’t put the challengers away, however.
They went back-and-forth from there but The Usos seemed to have the clear edge, including an incredible spot where they came off the top rope to take out both Big E and Woods.
But they still only got a two count.
They teased a finish multiple times from there, with fast paced action that saw multiple near falls, falls too close to believe for a match this low on the card. They were flying all around the ring, taking everybody out.
In the end, The Usos managed to take out Woods, Kofi Kingston, and then, to end it, a double splash on Big E.
The Usos are your new SmackDown tag team champions.
