NXT TakeOver Brooklyn III results: Asuka’s streak lives with a submission win over Ember Moon

Asuka came into tonight (Sat., Aug. 19, 2017) undefeated for the entirety of her NXT career, and champion for over 500 days in a row. That included a less than honest victory over Ember Moon at TakeOver: Orlando earlier this year.

Here, at TakeOver: Brooklyn III at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, Moon got her rematch.

The streak lives on.

Ember wasted no time getting going:

They cut a brutal early pace, and worked stiff with each other, but it wasn’t long before Asuka gained control, worked over the arm, and generally did Asuka things. Those same Asuka things that kept the belt on her for all this time.

Then, the big spot.

Ember hit The Eclipse.

Asuka kicked out.

When Moon went up for a second, Asuka used the referee to block it. Then she reversed a pinfall attempt into one of her own and tried to grab the tights. The referee almost counted it, too, until he realized what was happening and stopped at two.

A superkick from Ember while she was yelling at the referee then got another near fall.

The crowd was insane at this point.

Asuka played possum to get Moon sucked into a trap and it wasn’t long before she had the Asuka Lock in. Ember battled and battled but ultimately had to tap out.
