Here’s an interesting tidbit from a Triple H interview over at For The Win: When WWE was gearing up for the Draft last year, he insisted to Vince McMahon that Asuka not be one of the NXT roster members who was called up.
As he put it:
“I would never want to limit someone’s growth or their opportunities, but when Vince brought it up to me, I said the one person who we can’t afford to lose is Asuka. You could take everybody else you want to take – and trust me, he did – but I need her as an anchor. If I lose her and everybody else, I’m doomed.”
There’s a debate to be had regarding the shape the division is in now and whether or not it’s ready for her to finally get the call up to the main roster. The Mae Young Classic is just around the corner and should provide an influx of talent.
Her title defense against Ember Moon at TakeOver: Brooklyn III tonight could provide a clue as to where Triple H’s mindset on her being moved is now compared to one year ago.
Stay tuned.
