WWE SummerSlam 2017: The Hardy Boyz & Jason Jordan vs. The Miz & The Miztourage full match preview

Kickoff Six-Man Tag Match

The Miz & The Miztourage vs. The Hardy Boyz & Jason Jordan

The Intercontinental champ, the Attitude Era fan favorites who just returned to the company at WrestleMania and the “beneficiary” of a big storyline with Hall of Famer Kurt Angle weren’t on the card for a Big 4 pay-per-view (PPV)... now they are!

The Road to SummerSlam

After Jason Jordan was revealed as Raw General Manager Kurt Angle’s “Gold Blooded” son, the collegiate wrestling standout and former NXT and SmackDown tag champ was set on a collision course with the Intercontinental titleholder. Jordan got the better of Miz and his Miztourage of Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas during a visit to the A-Lister’s talk show.

Miz seemed to take the news about Jordan’s Olympic parentage personally, running down not only JJ, but also questioning whether his biological dad would be able to remain impartial with his progeny on the roster. And Jason didn’t like the Awesome One questioning his pops...

Things didn’t get any better for Miz and his boys when they called out Jordan a week later, getting Paul Heyman and an angry Brock Lesnar instead. Meanwhile, it looked like The Revival were... awakening... something in Matt and Jeff Hardy. But an injury to Scott Dawson put their SummerSlam plans on hold, and possibly... broke... an entire character transformation.

The Boyz met with Angle to discuss a plan B, but the IC champ barged in, demanding a chance to face Jordan as payback for two bad weeks of Miz TV. That actually seemed to be going to plan, with Dallas and Axel helping their boss make an example of the GM’s son.

Then The Hardyz ran in and evened the odds to make up for being cut-off during their meeting earlier.

Miz may not like it, but here we are.

What’s at stake?

Matt and Jeff are pretty clearly here because Vince McMahon wasn’t paying them to sit out one of the biggest shows of the year. It’s pretty unlikely they’ll continue to feud with Axel and Dallas beyond Sunday, but... there aren’t a ton of heel teams they haven’t faced already running around, so we can’t rule it out 100%. No matter, their main job here is to keep folks interested in Jordan until he gets over as a babyface or Creative is ready to turn him heel.

The issues between the Intercontinental champ and the Angle family are more interesting. Miz is already unhappy with the General Manager, and as we saw during his great run on SmackDown from the Draft to the Shake-Up, the former reality star does great work set against good guy authority figures.

And while Jordan may have some charisma issues, and be hamstrung with a soap opera storyline that a lot of people disliked from the jump, but he’s a good wrestler. Pitting him against the everyone loves to hate will probably work out well for him.

Now if they could just get off the pre-show...

Will SummerSlam be the start of better things for these men, or will they continue to spin their wheels into the Fall? Tune in Sunday night, and stick with Cageside Seats to find out!
