WWE 205 Live results (Aug. 15, 2017): Akira Tozawa’s championship celebration

Here's a place to check results and comment along with the latest airing of WWE 205 Live in its regular Tuesday night at 10PM Eastern time slot on WWE Network.

This week, following Akira Tozawa’s shocking victory over Neville on Raw, Titus O’Neill is throwing his client a party! The champ will have to defend his newly won title against the King on Sunday at SummerSlam, but tonight, Titus Worldwide is going to celebrate. Ah! Ah! AH!

We might also get progression on the Jack Gallagher/The Brian Kendrick feud, Rich Swann’s slow dawning realization that TJP is kind of a douche, the rivalry developing between Tony Nese and Cedric Alexander, the push Noam Dar’s getting as a single man after dumping Alicia Fox and maybe some other cruiserweight storylines I’m forgetting.

We'll post match results and plot developments here. This gives you Cagesiders a dedicated place to rave and/or bitch about whatever goes down on the WWE’s cruiserweight showcase - while it’s being broadcast!

Enjoy the show!

- Recap of Akira Tozawa def. Neville to win the belt starts us off, then... “Yeah, for too long they've felt the reign, now it's time we take the crown...”

- Vic Joseph welcomes us, Corey Graves talks about the shocking end of SmackDown, and we’re going right to tag action

- Drew Gulak is the last man announced, and he explains why he came back to help his old tag partner after Tony Nese beat Cedric Alexander twice over the last two weeks. Gulak also says he doesn’t like show-offs, and Nese is definitely a show-off, but he shows off for all the right reasons - because we should all strive to be like Tony.

- Cedric Alexander and Gran Metalik def. Tony Nese and Drew Gulak via pinfall (Cedric on Gulak following a Lumbar Check)

- Noam Dar, Lince Dorado and Ariya Daivari are talking about Neville losing in the locker room. Dar is about to say “ding dong, the King is dead” when the camera pans to reveal Neville standing there with a blank look on his face. They all scatter, then the former champ destroys a chair.

- Titus is making some celebration plans on the phone in another area backstage as we head to commercial

- The Brian Kendrick enters, looking all over for Jack Gallagher as Corey and Vic talk about how paranoid he’s been lately

- The Brian Kendrick def. Mustafa Ali via disqualification when Gallagher appears OUT OF NOWHERE to pummel Kendrick after he’d gotten the upper hand on Ali

- Dasha Fuentes interviews Rich Swann about his match with TJP next. She asks if he’s thinking about winning their rubber match. Swann asks her if she saw TJ get in his face after last week’s match, and that he’ll show Perkins he can do a victory dance, too. Daivari barges in and says plans have changed. He doesn’t know what happened to “Teej”, but he’s Rich’s new opponent tonight. In Iran, they put friendships aside when it’s time to compete, and Swann should follow their example.

- Ariya Daivari def. Rich Swann via pinfall after a hammerlock lariat; Swann was in position to hit the Phoenix Splash when TJP’s music hits and Perkins come out in a full leg brace and on crutches to distract him

- Kendrick is trying to slink out of the arena when Dasha stops him. Brian says he can’t stop because every time he does that clown Gallagher attacks him. While talking he has a realization... if Jack won’t face him “man-to-man”, he’ll challenge him to duel.

- Titus O’Neil Presents... Akira Tozawa’s Cruiserweight championship celebration!

Titus comes to the ring, which is set up with a carpet and a podium with the Titus Worldwide logo on it. He says the man he’s gonna bring out needs no introduction, but he’s gonna give him one anyway. It’s the new Cruiserweight champion... AKIRA TOZAWA!

The champ holds up the belt, and Titus gives him a hug as the fans in Providence chant “AH!” O’Neil talks about Tozawa making history by making the King’s historic title reign go “bye-bye”. He hands the mic to Akira, who says this is a big moment for him, because this was his big dream. Titus is drinking champagne from the bottle, so the champ tells him “Easy” and they do a little dance. O’Neil says they like to have fun in TW, but they also like to tell each other how they feel. And he’s told him lots of things over the last 24 hours, but he hadn’t said “thank you”. A lot of people thought Akira’s dreams were silly, just like they though Titus was silly for starting a brand, but they did it any way, so O’Neil wants to say thank. Now it’s time to celebrate!

But Neville’s music hits, and the deposed King staggers onto stage. He says he brought honor and prestige to that title. But in one day, Tozawa has made a mockery of everything he did! But in less than a week, at SummerSlam, all of that will be rectified. He turns to the ‘Tron, which has a countdown clock for Sunday’s show. He says this is his gift to Akira - the countdown to his demise. He’s giving him 114 hours until he takes back his title, so Tozawa should enjoy every second of it before Neville ends him.

Titus says Neville should get some sleep, because he looks horrible (and he does).

While O’Neil says he knows what the former King is up to, Neville tries to attack, but Tozawa drop kicks when he tries to slide into the ring! The champ throws him off the barricade. When they enter the ring, Tozawa dumps him and then nails him with a dive! Titus and Akira celebrate in the ring as a twitchy Neville backs up the ramp.
