The Hardy Men and Cesaro & Sheamus have wrestled what feels like 100 times already, but they did it once again tonight (Sun., July 9, 2017) at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas at the WWE Great Balls of Fire pay-per-view (PPV). This time, they made history.
The first ever 30-minute Iron Man match for the Raw tag team titles.
The first fall came within seconds, as Sheamus started in the ring, Cesaro came in with a deke that fooled Matt Hardy, and one Brogue Kick later they were up 1-0.
In a surprise, Cesaro and Sheamus stayed all over the Hardys and about 10 minutes in they used some tandem offense to score a second fall. 2-0.
A couple minutes later, the Hardys got one of their own with Poetry in Motion, a Side Effect, and a Twist of Fate on Cesaro. It took a lot but a fall is a fall. 2-1.
The next fall came just a couple minutes after — via countout. Just as Matt Hardy was trying to get back into the ring, Cesaro furthered his relationship with one of the ring poles. 3-1.
The Hardys came back to once again cut the deficit to one with Matt tagging in Jeff, hitting a backslide on Cesaro, and Jeff following up with a double leg drop into a cover. 3-2.
After a ton of near falls, Matt went all out with a Twist of Fate from the top rope to tie it up with just under three minutes remaining. 3-3.
The final fall came in a really slick spot when Jeff tagged himself in and hit a Swanton Bomb on Sheamus but Cesaro, who was the legal man, came in and pinned Hardy just after. 4-3.
With just under 30 seconds left, the Hardys were left scrambling to tie it up again. Jeff managed a Twist of Fate but before the referee could count the fall, the buzzer sounded.
Cesaro & Sheamus are still your Raw tag team champions.
What a ride.
