WWE names their 10 best matches from the first half of 2017

Ahhh... the list. If there’s anything the internet loves, well, it’s probably cat videos. But after that, it’s arguing, and nothing sparks an argument like ranking the top x of y.

WWE knows this, of course. And we do, too, which is why we’re always calling attention to WWE’s lists. This is a really good one, though, as Anthony Benigno’s “The 10 best matches of 2017 (so far)” manages to have some great picks, some clearly political/marketing-driven ones and a few headscratchers.

Head over to the original for explanations from each of Benigno’s selections (or explanations written by Benigno for the selections he was given), as well as each bout’s signature moment. Then use the space below to let us know what you think of these picks:

10. Neville vs. Rich Swann — WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match (Raw, March 6)

9. Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch vs. Natalya vs. Carmella vs. Tamina — Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match (SmackDown LIVE, June 27)

8. Jack Gallagher vs. TJP vs. Cedric Alexander vs. Noam Dar vs. Mustafa Ali — Cruiserweight Championship No. 1 Contender’s Fatal 5-Way Elimination Match (205 Live, Feb. 7)

7. Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns (Raw, May 29)

6. Big Show vs. Braun Strowman (Raw, Feb. 20)

5. Shane McMahon vs. AJ Styles (WrestleMania 33)

4. Finn Bálor vs. Seth Rollins vs. The Miz — Triple Threat Intercontinental Championship No. 1 Contender’s Match (Raw, May 1)

3. AJ Styles vs. John Cena — WWE Championship Match (Royal Rumble)

2. The Authors of Pain vs. #DIY vs. The Revival — Triple Threat NXT Tag Team Championship Elimination Match (TakeOver: Orlando)

1. Tyler Bate vs. Pete Dunne — United Kingdom Championship Match (TakeOver: Chicago)

Even though I didn’t dislike it as much as some others, the inclusion of the ladder match as the only women’s entry stands out to me as the biggest misstep, but there’s debate to be had on several of the others, as well.

So... do what you do best, internet!
