It’s a familiar complaint/joke - especially when he’s holding Raw’s top prize - but Brock Lesnar isn’t around as much as other WWE Superstars.
With his first Universal title defense coming up this Sunday, July 9, it’s been a particularly hot topic among wrestling fans. His match against Samoa Joe will be his first he won the belt from Goldberg in Orlando at WrestleMania 33, a span of 98 days.
But the Beast is back for Great Balls of Fire this weekend, and he’ll be around for SummerSlam on August 20 because he doesn’t miss “Big 4” pay-per-view (PPV) events. But that’s not all! If advertising from WWE and Los Angeles’ Staples Center is correct, Lesnar will also be appearing at Sept. 24’s No Mercy.
Now, Staples Center also lists SmackDown Superstar Sami Zayn, so maybe we take that with a grain of salt. But WWE features Brock smack in the middle of the marquee image on the No Mercy event page, so while cards and plans can change, it doesn’t appear his inclusion is a typo.
He’s probably not working October’s TLC show - but it is in his home state of Minnesota, so maybe! But even if he skips that, he’ll be back for Survivor Series in Houston, putting his on four of the next five Raw PPVs.
Not bad for a part-timer.
What does that mean for booking plans? Who knows! They could do rematches with Samoa Joe and/or whoever he faces in Brooklyn next month, or go with the once-rumored plan of eventually working with nearly everyone who was in the Fatal 5Way #1 contender match won by Joe last month at Extreme Rules.
Not as much fun as “part-timer” jokes (of which I’m as guilty as anyone), but pretty exciting, nonetheless.
Thoughts, Cagesiders?
