The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the SummerSlam show set to take place on Sun., Aug. 20, 2017, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. This will mark the third time in as many years the company will hold this event in the area, and it will, of course, feature matches with stars from both Monday Night Raw and SmackDown Live.
We're still three weeks out from showtime but the card is filling up:
- Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman vs. Samoa Joe (Universal championship)
All three challengers have a viable claim for Lesnar’s title, so all three got thrown into the mix. And why not?!?
- Naomi vs. Natalya (SmackDown women’s championship)
Nattie won a Fatal 5-Way at Battleground to earn her way into this match. She may have been the most surprising contender in the match, yet here she is.
- Alexa Bliss vs. Bayley (Raw women’s championship)
Bayley defeated her best friend, Sasha Banks, to earn this shot. There is some controversy, considering Sasha’s shoulders were up, but WWE doesn’t seem to be acknowledging that fact ... yet.
- Jinder Mahal vs. TBA (WWE championship)
The winner of the John Cena vs. Shinsuke Nakamura match on SmackDown Live this week will get the shot against Mahal.
Elsewhere, Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins appear to be in the Raw tag team title mix, Big Cass and Big Show are battling it out, as are Finn Balor and Bray Wyatt, The New Day and The Usos are still going back-and-forth over the SmackDown tag team titles, AJ Styles and Kevin Owens are still mixing it up over the United States championship, and The Miz may be going into a program with Jason Jordan.
Like the way the card is shaping up?
