Aiden English vs. Tye Dillinger

Kickoff match

At the kickoff show at Battleground tomorrow, Aiden English and Tye Dillinger will face off. Usually, this is where I’d go ahead an tell you why, but there really isn’t a reason. There wasn’t too much of a reason the first time they had a kickoff match. There’s even less of one this time.

Here’s video setting it up:

OK, now that that’s done, I’m going to use the rest of this space to argue why they should package these guys as a tag team.

I know, it sounds lazy to pair two people without anything to do, but at same time, it’s better than them doing nothing. And that’s exactly what they are doing right now: Nothing.

Their last PPV match was two shows ago, and it was the exact same match that they are having tomorrow. Since then, English got fed to Orton a couple times. And Dillinger had a good showing in a battle royal, lost to Jinder Mahal, and was in a Sonic advertisement. Neither man is setting the world on fire here.

SmackDown could use some tag teams anyway. They just broke up American Alpha when Jason Jordan went to Raw as Kurt Angle’s son. Primo Colon is out with an injury. It appears that the Hype Bros are on their way to separating soon.

And these guys kind of have a similar vibe. Sure they’re on the opposite sides of alignment, but at the core, the Perfect 10 is a completely arrogant gimmick. He’s a babyface now but the idea of it is rooted from his heel days. He claimed he was perfect and no one could hold a candle to him. Who would appreciate perfection more than an artiste like Aiden English? And a man who thrives on perfection like Dillinger would appreciate the vocal chops of English.

They can turn Tye heel. They can make English more of a good guy. Or they can do the bit where one is good and one is bad but it really works in the ring. And I already have a name for this team. Are you ready for this? Here it is:

Perfect Pitch

It all just works and it’s better than a rematch on the Kickoff for the next Smackdown exclusive PPV.

Think about it, WWE. This one’s free!

These future teammates will be fighting tomorrow night on the Battleground Kickoff show (starts at 7 EST) on the WWE Network and other platforms. (Cageside always have a stream of the kickoff show on the site if you have a tough time finding it.)
