The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the Great Balls of Fire event set to take place on Sun., July 9, 2017, at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. This is the first show in the event’s chronology and, yes, it is actually the name of a WWE PPV event.
We're just one week out from bell time and the card is all but full:
- Brock Lesnar vs. Samoa Joe (Universal championship)
Joe earned this shot by winning a Fatal 5-Way at Extreme Rules. He’s since choked out Paul Heyman and superkicked Lesnar in the middle of a pull apart brawl before sneaking up and choking him into a different skin color. It’s been really fun!
- Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman (Ambulance match)
While he was declaring himself number one contender to the Universal championship and booking himself into a match for said title at SummerSlam, Strowman was making his return to make it clear the two aren’t finished with their feud. They’ll cap it off in an Ambulance match, which is what they were building to before Braun’s injury.
- Alexa Bliss vs. Sasha Banks (Raw women’s championship)
Banks got a lucky draw in a Gauntlet match as the last entrant and went up against a tired Nia Jax. She earned a submission win to get this title shot.
- Bray Wyatt vs. Seth Rollins
No one knows what anyone is talking about, but they’re going to wrestle.
- Neville vs. Akira Tozawa
The Titus Brand is actually doing some good in getting Tozawa a title shot.
We can expect Cesaro & Sheamus vs. The Hardy Men and The Miz vs. Dean Ambrose as the other two championship matches. There’s also a Goldust vs. R-Truth match to be had at some point.
