Some rumors started making the rounds recently that Brock Lesnar may be considering a return to mixed martial arts (MMA) for a fight later this year. He returned to the UFC last July in a unanimous decision victory over Mark Hunt that was later overturned due to multiple failed drug tests. Said drug test failures resulted in a one year suspension.
That suspension was frozen when he retired from MMA back in February. According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, he has reentered the USADA testing pool, which would be the first step to take on the road to serving out the rest of his suspension so he can fight again.
If that’s the plan, as has been rumored.
Pro Wrestling Sheet also reports, however, that Lesnar is doing so to keep his options open. His contract with WWE comes up after WrestleMania 34 and he apparently has already told officials he doesn’t intend to re-sign.
For now.
We’ve been here before, of course, and Lesnar, if nothing else, is one hell of a business man who always gets the best deal possible. This sure looks like an early first step in negotiations for a new deal.
Stay tuned.
