Now more than ever, the world needs a good dose of positivity. We here at Cageside Seats will do our small part to bring that positivity on a daily basis. Throughout the entirety of 2017, we’ll say something nice about wrestling and everything around it, past, present, and future.
As a reminder, only positive comments are allowed here. No negative comments, no troll comments, no back-handed compliments. None of that here. You have the rest of the site for that. Any comments that are not in the spirit of this feature will be flagged, deleted, and posters of said comments may be subjected to a ban.
Today’s the first anniversary of the second WWE brand extension. Let’s talk about the WWE Draft, one year later.
Four of the biggest beneficiaries from last year’s Draft weren’t even drafted on the live show.
Braun “I’m Not Finished With You” Strowman (who then birthed James Ellsworth’s WWE career by proxy)...
Alexa Bliss, who managed to win both women’s titles in the 12 months since her unexpected callup...
Carmella (who was the very last pick in last year’s Draft) won* the first ever Women’s Money in the Bank briefcase, lost said case, then won it again...
...and Heath Slater, who not only didn’t even get drafted at all, but was literally fighting for a job until winning the tag titles with cheese and crackers enthusiast Rhyno.
Oh. Almost forgot. Veiny forehead Mike Mizanin promo. Probably wouldn’t have been possible without the Draft. Also, good to see Daniel Bryan Danielson on TV again, even if he’s not wrestling.
Your turn. Give us your nice thoughts about the WWE Draft one year later.
