Here's a place to check results and comment along with the latest airing of WWE NXT in its regular Wednesday night at 8PM Eastern time slot on WWE Network.
Check out our Wednesday morning preview post to get caught up on what's been happening, and what we expect this week.
We'll post match results here, and we will also have our regular reactions post later. In the meantime, and most importantly, this gives you Cagesiders a dedicated place to rave and/or bitch about whatever happens on WWE’s third brand - during its initial broadcast!
NOTE: Spoilers are out there for these pre-taped broadcasts (including here), but many Cagesiders don't partake. If you are going to post or discuss spoilers for this show before they happen, or results of future shows, please use the spoiler bar in your comment.
Enjoy the show!
- Opening video package is designed to break your heart about Tommaso Ciampa’s betrayal of Johnny Gargano all over again, and remind us about his promo from a few weeks back
- Mauro Ranallo, Percy Watson and Nigel McGuinness discuss that, and show us some fallout of Roderick Strong’s disappointing loss last week. We learn NXT champ will be here this week, and get some hype for our tag title main event.
- Aleister Black def. Bobby Fish via pinfall following Black Mass; after a hard-hitting 7+ minute match, Fish talks some trash to inspire a flurry of kicks, a springboard moonsault, high knee and then the finisher
- Hype for the Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) via some self-shot videos of them around the Performance Center and at live events
- Kayla Braxton stops Velveteen Dream as he exited Full Sail a couple weeks back. He dismisses her because that’s not the appropriate time/place. When she says she’s interviewed other Superstars there, he says he’s not other Superstars... he’s the Velveteen Dream
- Vanessa Borne def. Jayme Hachey via pinfall in under 2 minutes following a spinning slam variant to qualify for the Mae Young Classic
- The “fan shot” footage of SAnitY’s attack on Drew McIntyre from after last week’s show is aired
- Bobby Roode is General Manager William Regal’s office. The GM brought the champ in to talk about his next challenger. Killian Dain and Drew McIntyre are both undefeated and both want the title. Roode suggests everyone could make a lot of money if those men faced off in a #1 contender. Regal suggest Roode just wants the “big fellas” to beat each other, but agrees. That will happen next week, and the winner gets the champ at TakeOver: Brooklyn.
- Johnny Gargano is back, he enters slowly and looks serious. He tells the fans he missed the “Johnny Wrestling” chant. He loved that and his music, because he knew when we heard it, something special was about to happen. But then the guy he would take a bullet for pulled the trigger on him. He didn’t see it coming and he doesn’t understand it, but he’s not here to dwell on the past. He’s focused on the future, because you can’t control what happens to you, but you can control how you react to it. He needs to get back in the ring. He needs to get back to being Johnny Wrestling again. Brooklyn is NXT’s biggest show of the year, and he needs to be there. He leaves to big cheers and new theme music.
- In addition to Dain & McIntyre’s #1 contender’s match next week, we’re also getting Ruby Riot vs. Ember Moon!
- Authors of Pain def. Heavy Machinery via pinfall (Rezar on Otis Dozovic) following Last Chapter to retain their NXT tag team championship; after an evenly matched hoss fight, Tucker Knight was isolated until Dozovic got the hot tag. He cleaned house and HM went for their Compactor finisher on Akam, but Rezar came in with a big boot to set up the end.
- SAnitY’s theme cuts off AoP’s celebration, as Dain, Alexander Wolfe and Nikki Cross hit the stage. They look up and smile as pages from the Book of Dominance fall from the ceiling.
