Women’s 5-Way Elimination match announced for WWE Battleground 2017

With Lana having suffered three consecutive losses to Naomi in her quest to win the SmackDown women’s championship, Commissioner Shane McMahon had to figure out who would be the next top contender to the title on this week’s episode of SmackDown Live.

His way of doing so: A 5-Way Elimination match at the upcoming Battleground pay-per-view (PPV) scheduled for Sun., July 23, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The participants:

• Charlotte
• Becky Lynch
• Natalya
• Tamina
• Lana

So, even though she literally just lost three title matches, Lana is right back in a number one contender match. Go figure!

It was also announced that the winner would go on to face Naomi for the title at SummerSlam.
