One of the big questions coming into the Raw after Great Balls of Fire was who would face Brock Lesnar for the Universal title at SummerSlam.
Roman Reigns called his shot weeks ago, but he technically lost his match to Braun Strowman at the July 9 pay-per-view (PPV). Samoa Joe lost clean to Lesnar, but gave him a hell of a fight in last night and publicly proclaimed he was going to keep moving forward.
Then there’s Strowman, who had to be pried from the ambulance after Roman crashed it with him inside after their match in Dallas. General Manager Kurt Angle confirmed tonight (July 10) what we all saw on Sunday - the Monster Among Men left American Airlines Center after refusing medical aid. Angle would go on to tell us Braun hasn’t been heard from since, and there’s no timetable for his return.
Despite Paul Heyman’s protestations, the GM was also determined to book Brock’s next battle. But with Joe and Reigns arguing their case while also jawing at the champ, Angle was barely able to maintain order. So he decided to make a match for the July 17 episode... Of course, shortly after that, Angle and Corey Graves got another mysterious blackmail text. Kurt’s promised to reveal whatever the dirt is next week, as well, even though he’s worried it might cost him his job - and his family!
So maybe none of this will matter. Especially if someone emerges from the wilderness to tell Roman he’s not finished with him yet...
