WWE NXT preview (June 7, 2017): No one is safe

Tonight’s show finds us at Full Sail, for the second episode from a taping (spoilers from which are here) which will start to bridge the gap between May’s TakeOver: Chicago and August’s TakeOver: Brooklyn III. Here's what to expect.

The Headliner(s)

Two big matches set up by fallout videos!

Hideo Itami’s time in WWE has been frustrating. Just when he appears ready to take a step forward, injury strikes. So it was understandable he was upset after coming up short in a title match at the last TakeOver. But when he trashed the locker room and got in Kassius Ohno’s face, he almost burned a bridge. It looks like those two have made up, but it’ll be interesting to see if Hideo can keep his cool when he faces the hard-hitting Oney Lorcan tonight.

The other marquee bout was established first by last week’s main event, when No Way Jose returned for the first time since being taken out by SAnitY prior to TakeOver: Orlando. He achieved a measure of revenge by attacking Killian Dain to prevent the big Irishman from interfering in his mates’ tag match, and helping Roderick Strong & Ohno pick up the win.

And, well...

The Title Scene

Believe it or not, NXT champion Bobby Roode lied to us last week. We were not invited to his Glorious Celebration (just as well, since WWE is going to the “heel champ celebrates well even more than usual lately). He does vow to be back at Full Sail tonight, however.

As has been established on numerous occassions, no one is ready for Women’s titleholder Asuka. But the one woman who’s proved most ready, Ember Moon, was medically cleared from the shoulder injury the Empress of Tomorrow inflicted on her to force her to withdraw from a planned Fatal 4Way in Chicago. Question now is, do we start building to Moon/Asuka II immediately?

Now that tag team champions Authors of Pain have left #DIY in shambles, there aren’t a lot of options left for their next rivals, but most focus is on the hosses of Heavy Machinery. Are they ready to take the next step?

Other stuff to keep an eye on:

- Your Iconic Duo were about to give the Performance Center a makeover last week when Moon & her trainer barged in... that will probably lead to something. Might even include a win for Peyton Royce or Billie Kay at some point!

- UK champ Pete Dunne gave us a show and ran down his rival Tyler Bate last Wednesday. Expect more of their presence while the plans for their own show continue to take shape.

- Andrade “Cien” Almas picked up another loss last week, but he’s not phased but it. In fact, he seems downright... tranquilo.

NOTE: Spoilers are out there for these pre-taped broadcasts (including here), but many Cagesiders don't partake. If you are going to post or discuss spoilers for this show before they happen, or results of future shows, please use the spoiler bar in your comment.

See you tonight for NXT, Cagesiders!
