The real reason Maryse slapped The Miz at Extreme Rules

At first glance, it seemed obvious. The Miz was clearly telling Maryse to slap him during his match with Dean Ambrose at Extreme Rules in Baltimore last night (June 4, 2017) because the referee might then disqualify the champion, causing him to lose his title as per the stipulation going into the bout. It almost worked out that way too.

But we’ve got it all wrong.

Renee Young was joined by the duo on Raw Talk and when she rolled the footage and said it looked like Miz told Maryse to slap him, he responded with:

"I most certainly did not. I said 'I love you. I love you. I love you, I love you, I love you. And then she slapped me because she was so caught up in the moment. And, by the way, I kind of like being slapped, she knows that."

Of COURSE that’s the reason. We never should have doubted him. He will obviously be a great Intercontinental champion.
