WWE Extreme Rules 2017: Roman Reigns vs. Samoa Joe vs. Bray Wyatt vs. Seth Rollins vs. Finn Balor full match preview

The match where the winner gets to lose to Brock Lesnar in the near future

The match up:

The number one contender for the WWE Universal Championship will be decided in a historic Extreme Rules Fatal 5 Way match in the main event of Extreme Rules, this Sunday, June 4, 2017 at the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Maryland. Roman Reigns, Finn Balor, Seth Rollins, Samoa Joe, and Bray Wyatt will go head to head to head to head to head for the right to face the champion, Brock Lesnar.

The Road to Extreme Rules:

At WrestleMania 33, Brock Lesnar finally got a win over Goldberg, becoming the fourth ever Universal Champion in the process. The next night on RAW, Lesnar’s advocate called out Roman Reigns, who retired the legend, the Undertaker, the previous night.

That is the last time the Universal Champion was on WWE television.

RAW General Manager, Kurt Angle, put together this Extreme Rules Fatal 5 Way match about a month ago because he obviously has all the dates that Brock has agreed to work this year and realized that Lesnar would need an opponent to challenge him for the title soon. So the entire main event roster for the male side of the red brand was put into this match.

And that’s about it. Various line-ups of matches between all five men have been made and won in the subsequent weeks. Heyman made a brief appearance right after the match was announced to confront Finn Balor, as he looks to be the favorite in this match. Of course, all five men are confident and assure victory because very few WWE Superstars have low self esteem.

Funny enough, the most talked about match ups between the five men seemed to involve one person.

First, Finn Balor versus Roman Reigns...

And Seth Rollins versus Roman Reigns:

Believe that.

The Stakes:

The number one contender for the Universal Championship is on the line. But, honestly, does anyone expect Lesnar to be defeated in his first title defense? It could happen but I, personally, will not hold my breath waiting for it. At any rate, the match should be loads of fun.
