Not everyone on team WWE was upset or offended by The Ball Family’s visit to Raw this past Monday (June 26).
David Otunga hasn’t been around much lately - his role as Raw color commentator is being filled by Booker T on what seems like an open-ended basis while he works in Hollywood - but he found time to tune in for Lavar, Lonzo and LaMelo’s guest appearance on Miz TV.
He told TMZ that while the unpredictable patriarch of the Ball family makes him nervous as a performer, as a viewer, he loved it:
I found that to be the most entertaining segment of the show, personally. I was interested to see what he was gonna do - that dude is a character!
I actually like him just the way he was. Let’s be honest - dude was out there. He’s out there, you know what I mean? He came in there, there was one point he had thousand mile stare going... you’re like, “Dude, what is he thinking?” Like that makes me nervous, as a performer, but that makes me want to tune in because I’m like “I don’t know if he knows what’s going on, I don’t know if he’s staying, you know, where this is supposed to go or if he’s off doing his own thing, if he went into business for himself.”
Cause, man, like, I don’t know how that was supposed to go, but from a performer’s standpoint, I could tell it got off the rails real quick and that was a runaway train. But, boy, I loved it.
The former tag champ and Muscle & Fitness cover model also talked some trash about Ball’s physique:
For as big a game as he talks? He needs to hit the gym a little bit more.
Which could serve as prelude to what he really wants - a chance to work with the CEO of Big Baller Brand!
I hope they have him back, I hope they have him back. I hope they have him back and I want to do a segment with him. Oh man!
Vince, come on. Let me do this. I’ll come do this one, I’ll pull myself off the movie set and come and do this for you and the rest of the world.
Sensing an opportunity, Otunga’s only turned up the volume on his sales pitch since the TMZ interview went up last night, taking to social media to lobby his WWE boss:
Can’t blame a guy for trying, but I’m not sure how many people want to see that match. Maybe if Otunga managed Ball against his old New Nexus partner Curtis Axel?
Now that could be a hot feud. Maybe too hot.
What do you think, Cagesiders? Want more Ball on Raw - with or without David Otunga?
