An Independence Day battle royal will determine who challenges the Face of America at Battleground

Their next pay-per-view (PPV) is several weeks away, but SmackDown isn’t wasting any time getting the card for Battleground all set.

Unlike the WWE and tag titles, we didn’t learn who will challenge Kevin Owens for the United States championship on the June 27 edition of the blue brand, but we know how we’re going to get there.

General Manager Daniel Bryan was frustrated with the Face of America rigging his “open challenges”, and AJ Styles is itching for a chance to take the red, white and blue strap off the Canadian champ. So next week, on the Independence Day show which will also feature the return of John Cena, SmackDown is throwing a battle royal to determine Owens’ challenger for the July 23 PPV.

No word yet on who else will join the Phenomenal One in the match, but guessing while they slowly roll out the line-up should be fun, right?

Let us know if this is going to get you to tune in on July 4.
