After The Singh Brothers once again interfered in a match between Jinder Mahal and Randy Orton, the latter came out on this week’s episode of SmackDown Live and demanded he be given another shot at the WWE championship. His way of getting it?
To threaten to continuously assault Mahal until it was granted.
SmackDown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon then hit the ring to politely inform “The Viper” he can’t go around threatening people to get his way but also, yeah, sure, he can totally have a title match at the upcoming Battleground pay-per-view (PPV) on July 23, 2017, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
But he also gave Mahal the right to name the stipulation.
Naturally, Jinder decided to honor The Great Khali and defend his title against Orton in a PUNJABI PRISON match.
The updated Battleground match card:
- Jinder Mahal vs. Randy Orton (WWE championship Punjabi Prison match)
- The Usos vs. The New Day (SmackDown tag team championship)
