The Hype Bros won a battle royal to become top contenders to the SmackDown tag team titles last year. Zack Ryder, unfortunately, was injured in the process and they never got their opportunity.
He returned last week, however, and you would think SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan would honor their number one contendership.
He did not.
Instead, he booked them in a match against The Usos, the current champions, and said if they win they’ll get their shot at the belts. Naturally, they were soundly defeated without much issue.
So much for that!
Immediately after Ryder ate the pinfall, The New Day showed up to say they were the rightful number one contenders. The Usos went ahead and accepted a match for the upcoming Battleground pay-per-view (PPV) on July 23 in Philadelphia.
Yeah.
