WWE SmackDown Live preview (June 27, 2017): Loaded

Shane & Bryan’s face punching extravaganza brings a loaded show to San Diego!

The Headliners

Take one didn’t produce a very popular result at last Sunday’s pay-per-view (PPV), so... despite a strong promo and really compelling argument from the since stripped Ms. Money in the Bank, General Manager Daniel Bryan called a mulligan.

Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Natalya, Tamina and Carmella will once again battle to see who can climb the ladder and retrieve the briefcase containing a contract for a title shot any time in the next year. But there will be one difference between this and the first ever women’s Money in the Bank match in St. Louis on June 18.

This time, there will be no James Ellsworth to help Carm in any way - let alone to ascend the ladder and drop the case to her.

Can the Princess of Staten Island do it herself and become the official first ever Ms. Money in the Bank? Or will she be exposed as a pretender while another woman makes history?

The Title Scene

Unlike a few other belts, the one held by WWE champ Jinder Mahal won’t be on the line or have rivals competing for a shot at it on this loaded episode of SmackDown. But that could just be because the Modern Day Maharajah’s future could look a lot like his past, considering both his wins over Randy Orton have been aided by the Singh Brothers.

After AJ Styles tried to enter Kevin Owens’ United States championship challenger, but the new Face of America shut him down because he wasn’t from Dayton. The Phenomenal One brought out the recently relocated (and since re-relocated) Chad Gable for a shot, but that didn’t work, either. Can AJ get a title match or will have to wait until SmackDown’s in Atlanta?

Women’s titleholder Naomi is definitely a fighting champion. And with the other five ladies in the division tied up in ladder match history, that’s left her and Lana a lot of time to get on each other’s nerves. It’s worked for getting the Ravishing Russian championship opportunities - she gets another one tonight after complaining her Money in the Bank chance was ruined by a Carmellsworth distraction. Can she turn it into gold?

After tag team champions The Usos chose to walk out of their title match with New Day on PPV, Big E defeated Jimmy last week. That may earn the Princes of Positivity another shot, but they’ll just be interested observers in Southern Cali tonight, as they watch the recently returned Zack Ryder and his partner Mojo Rawley try to re-earn the #1 contendership DB is making them wrestle for once again for some reason.

Other stuff to keep an eye on:

- When it counted, Baron Corbin was the better man, climbing the ladder and grabbing the Money in the Bank briefcase. But he still has a thorn in his side named Sami Zayn, and last week he requested a match with the Likeable One. He gets it this week.

- Shinsuke Nakamura is an artist. We know this because WWE calls him one. Maybe one day he’ll wrestle someone other than Dolph Ziggler.

- Last Tuesday, Tye Dillinger proved he’s still around, and that he likes milkshakes. Maybe this week he can have a match.

- Those recently introduced lovebirds Mike & Maria Kanellis have a theme song that’s taking the WWE Universe by storm... now if they can only get on television.

Four weeks to Battleground!
