The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the Great Balls of Fire event set to take place on Sun., July 9, 2017, at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. This is the first show in the event’s chronology and, yes, it is actually the name of a WWE PPV event.
We're just twoo weeks out from bell time and as of now only two matches are official:
- Brock Lesnar vs. Samoa Joe (Universal championship)
Joe earned this shot by winning a Fatal 5-Way at Extreme Rules. He’s since choked out Paul Heyman and superkicked Lesnar in the middle of a pull apart brawl. It’s been really fun!
- Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman (Ambulance match)
While he was declaring himself number one contender to the Universal championship and booking himself into a match for said title at SummerSlam, Strowman was making his return to make it clear the two aren’t finished with their feud. They’ll cap it off in an Ambulance match, which is what they were building to before Braun’s injury.
Other matches WWE is clearly building to include Seth Rollins vs. Bray Wyatt, Cesaro & Sheamus vs. The Hardy Men, Alexa Bliss defending the Raw women’s championship, The Miz vs. Dean Ambrose, and Enzo Amore vs. Big Cass. There are other possibilities, like Finn Balor vs. Elias Samson and Goldust vs. R-Truth as well.
