American Alpha return to SmackDown Live, Chad Gable loses a US title match

It’s been a while since we heard from American Alpha on SmackDown Live, as they lost the tag team titles to The Usos and then just sort of disappeared while the Fashion Police got over with “The Fashion Files” and The New Day showed up as the new top contenders. They made their return on this week’s show, with Chad Gable answering Kevin Owens’ Face of America Open Challenge for the United States Championship.

The idea KO originally had was that anyone from Dayton, Ohio, the host city, could answer the call. Then AJ Styles showed up and was denied, then Gable arrived, made up an address, Styles agreed, and for some reason the match started.

Land of opportunity indeed.

Gable looked good in the match, because of course he did, but Owens used a powerbomb to beat him 1-2-3 in the middle of the ring to retain his title. So that was that.

But, hey, American Alpha got back on TV!
