WWE reportedly talking to retired Superstar about returning for Mae Young Classic (potential spoiler)

We’re only a few hours from the first official names having been announced for WWE Network’s Mae Young Classic women’s wrestling tournament, but Pro Wrestling Sheet has another name who could be added to the field. And it’s a surprising one.

Though Ryan Satin’s site clarifies it’s not a done deal, and in fact - outside the women already under contract - many members of the 32 person field haven’t been “locked in” yet, apparently Serena Deeb is considering coming out of retirement for at least the July 13 - 14 taping.

After a 2015 match in Japan, and a one-off appearance in TNA for the James Storm’s feud with Mickie James and her husband, Nick “Magnus” Aldis, Deeb hung up her boots to focus on her career as a yoga instructor. If Sheet’s sources are correct, she’d be lacing them back up for a role similar to the one Brian Kendrick played during the Cruiserweight Classic (CWC) - the veteran looking for one last moment of glory.

Despite a nearly decade long career which featured title wins in WWE developmental promotions OVW and FCW, Deeb only had one match on the main roster despite spending several months as part of CM Punk’s Straight Edge Society faction alongside Luke Gallows and Joey Mercury. She was released from the company shortly after her lone in-ring outing, reportedly for failing to “live the gimmick” and being spotted in bars outside shows.

Will she agree to return? How will fans respond to a comeback?

Stay tuned.
