After a big jump in viewers for the Extreme Rules fallout episode of Monday Night Raw last week, WWE had to go up against Game 5 of the NBA Playoffs, where the Golden State Warriors would have the opportunity to win their second title in three years against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
That meant a big drop for Raw.
Indeed, the show drew just 2.54 million viewers, down from last week’s 2.98 million viewers. That’s a new low for 2017.
WWE knew this might happen, so they kicked off with Brock Lesnar and got the big angle out of the way early. To that end, they saw the most viewers in hour one and a steady falloff after:
Hour one: 2.76 million
Hour two: 2.52 million
Hour three: 2.33 million
That’s a big drop and an incredibly low third hour. There should be some improvement without as much competition next week. Still, it shouldn’t be eating into viewership this bad.
