It’s been an eventful trip to the Download Festival for WWE’s third brand. But while a lot of stuff is happening, one thing that didn’t (at least on their first day in Leicestershire’s Donington Park) was another win in Asuka’s record-setting streak.
That’s because the Women’s champion’s match with Ruby Riot on Friday, June 9 had to be stopped and ruled a no contest after the Empress of Tomorrow smashed her opponent’s head on the corner of the steel steps, resulting in a bloody scene:

As you can see, five stitches later, the Punk Rock Ragdoll is back in business:
And while there’s little-to-no chance WWE planned the spot, they’re already incorporating it into the story. In this Facebook video chat with Kayla Braxton, Riot says Asuka busted her open on purpose. She also states her belief that - like when Asuka used the referee to make sure Ember Moon couldn’t hit her finisher at TakeOver: Orlando or the attack prior to TakeOver: Chicago which sent Moon to the disabled list - this is another sign the champ is getting desperate:
