If last week’s episode of SmackDown Live didn’t make clear the battle lines drawn in the women’s division, this week’s certainly did. Indeed, Naomi, the champion, Charlotte, and Becky Lynch are on the side of good, even if they cant seem to get along; Natalya, Carmella, and Tamina Snuka, collectively known as The Welcoming Committee, are on the side of bad.
This played out in the form of the rulebreakers doing what they had to to ensure Nattie would defeat Lynch in their match on tonight’s show in London. Naturally, it didn’t take long for WWE to announce the two sides would settle their differences in a match at the upcoming Backlash pay-per-view (PPV) scheduled for Sun., May 21, 2017, at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois.
Yes, it’s yet another multi-woman tag match but, hey, the entire division is on the card, right?
Here’s the updated Backlash match card:
- Randy Orton vs. Jinder Mahal (WWE championship)
- Kevin Owens vs. AJ Styles (US championship)
- The Usos vs. Breezango (SmackDown tag team championship)
- Naomi & Charlotte & Becky Lynch vs. The Welcoming Committee
