Business just picked up for the just-announced United Kingdom Championship shows, coming out way later this month on WWE Network.
That’s because the two events, filmed this past Saturday and Sunday (May 6 - 7) in Norwich, will feature commentary by WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross and Nigel McGuinness.
Ross announced the news himself on his blog:
I'm excited to announce that I will join the talented Nigel McGuinness to broadcast the recently taped, WWE matches from Norwich, England and these bouts will air on the WWE Network soon. Happy for this opportunity to call bouts involving new wrestlers, for me, and a new broadcast partner which freshens up all facets of the process. Stay tuned as to when these specials will be broadcast on the WWE Network which is still the best value in the land for only $9.99 per month.
This will be the first time JR calls action for WWE since the main event of WrestleMania 33, where he was handpicked by Undertaker to call his final match. That was the start of a new two-year deal between Ross and WWE which made him available for projects such as this one.
In the same blog post, the Oklahoman hints he may also be calling New Japan’s G1 special shows in California for AXS TV in July, so the era of “Jim Ross: Independent Super-Announcer” may be upon us.
Great God Almighty!
