WWE Backlash 2017 match card, rumors

The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the Backlash show set to take place on Sun., May 21, 2017, at the Allstate Arena in Chicago, Illinois. This will be a SmackDown Live exclusive event.

We're now just two weeks out from showtime and this is how the card looks right now:

  • Randy Orton vs. Jinder Mahal (WWE championship)

Mahal won a Six-Pack Challenge to earn this title shot. He has since cost Orton his House of Horrors match against Bray Wyatt and stolen the belt itself, though he willingly gave it back when Shane McMahon came calling for it.

  • Kevin Owens vs. AJ Styles (US championship)

Once Owens won the US title back from Chris Jericho, Styles was awarded the shot he earned weeks earlier by defeating Sami Zayn and Baron Corbin in a triple threat match.

  • The Usos vs. Breezango (SmackDown tag team championship)

Tyler Breeze and Fandango earned their first crack at tag title gold when they won a Beat-the-Clock Challenge on SmackDown Live a week ago.

We know Shinsuke Nakamura will be wrestling on the card though his opponent has yet to be revealed. It’s almost surely Dolph Ziggler, as that’s the direction on television. They’re also putting together a multi-woman match that will likely see Charlotte team with Becky Lynch and Naomi against the “Welcoming Committee,” Natalya, Carmella, and Tamina.

That’s the card so far. You in?
