Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match official for June 18

WWE decided the best way it could find a new number one contender in the women’s division would be to hold a Fatal 5-Way Elimination match pitting the entire division against one another with the winner getting a match against Naomi at Money in the Bank on June 18 in Baltimore.

But that never happened.

That’s because the women involved in it — Charlotte, Natalya, Carmella, Tamina, and Becky Lynch — just started brawling and beating each other up before the referee officially started the match. By the time all was said and done, tables were broken, barricades gone through, the whole works.

Commissioner Shane McMahon’s response to this? To book them all in a Money in the Bank ladder match, the very first time women have ever done so in WWE.

Considering how fun this little melee was, this has real potential to be a classic, at least as much as these matches can be.

Here’s the updated Money in the Bank match card:

  • Jinder Mahal vs. Randy Orton (WWE championship)
  • New Day vs. Usos (SmackDown tag team championship)
  • Men’s Money in the Bank ladder match (Owens vs. Nakamura vs. Styles vs. Zayn vs. Corbin vs. Ziggler)
  • Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder match (Charlotte vs. Tamina vs. Becky vs. Carmella vs. Natalya)
